DENTAL LEGAL ISSUES
Practicing dentists should only use techniques learnt at DENTOX programs on their patients in and around the mouth for conditions related to mastication, the teeth and smile esthetics. Many of the existing esthetic protocols are part of therapeutic protocols. All attendees are taught all injection techniques into every area of the face that is part of a recognized therapeutic or smile esthetic protocol. These areas include the muscles of the glabella, forehead, around the mouth, platysma, occipitalis, temporalis and masseter muscles. A patient chart notation should be made for all Botox treatments stating that the motivation for treatment is therapeutic.
Dentox advises all attendees that they DO NOT market themselves as “wrinkle dentists.” All patients should sign consent forms that list all the side-effects and state that most indications including esthetics are not listed on the printed product label. A complete medical history should be taken from all patients with special reference to pre-existing neurological diseases. These forms are available on this website.
Dentox takes a strong view against current politically motivated rules in the State of California that allow untrained personnel including certain RN’s, PA’s and MD’s to perform procedures in and around the mouth, while highly trained dentists are restricted from performing these same procedures. This is a disservice to the dental and medical profession and to the patient population. All untrained medical professionals are invited to attend a Dentox Lip Filler program.
Dentox recommends that anyone who plans to introduce any medical esthetic treatments including skin laser treatments, tattoo and hair removal, into their office attend the course entitled:
BOARD COMPLIANT MEDICAL SPAS IN THE DENTAL OFFICE OR DAY SPA
By following the instructions at this program you will be able to offer many desirable and lucrative esthetic medical treatments in your office. Dentists may not perform any of these procedures nor may they hire medical personnel to do these procedures without following exact guidelines. These are covered in detail at the program. All non-dental esthetic treatments may only be advertised and performed when you have the necessary contractual management arrangements with a medical corporation in place.
